Hootenanny

I found this wonderful folk music themed fabric at a vintage store.  There was a pretty big piece, and I made several bibs.  Then a friend of mine saw the bibs on my blog and wanted to know where I got the fabric.  She had a childood quilt with some of the same fabric.  As a surprise, I sent her what I had left of the fabric.  IHoot bet she’ll make something good.

Blue Waves

The cool blue fabric in this bib and many others was once part of a Halloween costume when my husband dressed as a tsunami.  One of my friends pointed out that the pattern looks like marbleized paper.  It always makes me think of the ocean, so the bibs I make with it are usually water related.

My Favorite

This is my favorite bib I’ve ever made.  I love the map fabric and airplane outline together, and the bright blue color is perfect.  It makes me want to go on vacation.  The fabric was from Aunt Liz’s estate sale purchase,.  Unfortunately, there was only enough fabric to make one bib.  plane

Thanks, Aunt Little Bit

Last month, my husband’s Aunt Elizabeth bought a lot of fabric at an estate sale.  Luckily, she thought of me.  She invited me over for lunch and sent me home with a 40 lb. box of fabric.  There were wonderful things inside that box.

Buttons!

December 6, 2008 · 1 Comment

Last weekend, while visiting my mom, I discovered a bag of vintage buttons.  Most of them came from my grandma, and many of them are antiques.   As I’m sure you know people from my grandma’s generation didn’t waste things.  Anytime a piece of clothing got too worn to wear the buttons and other fastenings and embellishments were removed for use on another garment.   I’m really excited about honoring that history and incorporating these buttons into my designs.

My mother-in-law gave me this fabric almost 6 years ago.  It was a big piece and I always planned to make something big out of it.  I think I’ll make a bunch of little bibs instead.  There’s something timeless about hot pink and violet flowers on a bright blue background.

I made these bibs from a groovy mumu that I bought at a garage sale.  I love the wheat stalks and gold accents.

This cool camo fabric came from a pair of curtains my mom once made for my dad’s camping trailer.  Luckily, they kept the curtains when they sold the trailer.

My grandma had this awesome cowboy flannel in her attic. I love that the cowboys have guns and lassos and the background looks kind of like horse fur. Unfortunately, there was only enough to make two bibs.

This cute pink fabric I got from Yvonne combines stripes and florals. I think the mint flannel makes it look as cozy as can be.
